# Registered Nurse Manager – Labor & Delivery **Location:** Torrance, CA **Department:** Labor & Delivery **Employment Type:** Full-Time **Salary Range:** $150,000–$200,000 annually --- ## ABOUT THE ROLE We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Registered Nurse Manager to lead our Labor & Delivery unit in Torrance. This leadership role combines clinical expertise with operational management, overseeing a dynamic team of registered nurses, charge nurses, and support staff who provide comprehensive perinatal care to expectant mothers and newborns. The RN Manager will ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality obstetric nursing care while managing unit operations, staffing, quality improvement initiatives, and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate brings extensive labor and delivery experience, demonstrated leadership capabilities, and a commitment to fostering a collaborative, patient-centered environment during one of life's most critical moments. --- ## KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - **Lead and manage all clinical and operational aspects** of the Labor & Delivery unit, including staffing assignments, scheduling, budget management, and resource allocation to ensure optimal patient care and unit efficiency - **Provide direct clinical oversight and support** to nursing staff during routine deliveries, high-risk obstetric cases, cesarean sections, and obstetric emergencies, serving as a clinical resource and mentor - **Supervise and evaluate nursing staff performance**, conducting regular competency assessments, performance reviews, coaching, and professional development planning to maintain clinical excellence and regulatory standards - **Implement and monitor evidence-based obstetric protocols**, clinical pathways, and safety initiatives, including fetal monitoring standards, hemorrhage protocols, and maternal-newborn bonding practices in alignment with AWHONN guidelines - **Collaborate with obstetricians, anesthesiologists, neonatologists, and interdisciplinary teams** to coordinate comprehensive care plans, facilitate effective communication, and resolve clinical and operational issues - **Ensure compliance with Joint Commission, state health department, and hospital policies**, conducting audits, managing quality metrics, incident reporting, and leading performance improvement projects to enhance patient outcomes - **Respond to and manage obstetric emergencies**, including shoulder dystocia, postpartum hemorrhage, placental abruption, and fetal distress situations, providing hands-on clinical support and ensuring rapid response team coordination - **Foster a positive unit culture** that promotes staff engagement, patient satisfaction, evidence-based practice, and continuous learning while maintaining appropriate nurse-to-patient ratios and workplace safety standards --- ## REQUIREMENTS - **Active California Registered Nurse (RN) license** in good standing with the California Board of Registered Nursing - **Minimum 5 years of clinical experience in Labor & Delivery nursing**, with at least 2 years in a charge nurse, assistant manager, or leadership capacity - **Current certifications:** Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) required - **Inpatient Obstetric Nursing Certification (RNC-OB)** through the National Certification Corporation strongly preferred or required within 12 months of hire - **Demonstrated expertise** in fetal heart rate monitoring, antepartum and postpartum care, high-risk obstetrics, labor support, and neonatal stabilization - **Proven leadership and management skills**, including staff development, conflict resolution, critical thinking, and the ability to make sound clinical and operational decisions in high-pressure situations --- ## PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS - **Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)** required;
